Privacy Policy — Lower Back Stretching

This policy describes what data the Lower Back Stretching mobile app (“the app”) handles, where it lives, and your rights over it. Plain English; no legalese.

Summary in one paragraph

We do not run a server. The app does not have user accounts. Everything you create in the app — your completed sessions, pain check-ins, flexibility tests, custom routines, settings — is stored only on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes it permanently. The only data that ever leaves your device is the completed stretching sessions you explicitly choose to write to Health Connect. Stretch demonstrations are drawn on-device as animations; nothing is streamed.

What the app stores on your device

All of the following is written to your device’s private app storage. None of it leaves your phone unless you act to send it (e.g. by uninstalling backup, by Health Connect sync, or by sharing a custom routine link).

Completed sessions — which program/day/stretch you finished and when, total duration.
Pain check-ins — your self-reported 0–10 pain rating, optional body location, before and after sessions.
Flexibility test results — sit-and-reach, toe-touch, shoulder-reach measurements you enter.
Custom routines — names and ordered lists of stretch IDs you build.
Preferences — reminder time, theme, audio choices, haptic settings, completed-screening flag.

This data stays on the device. The app does not transmit it to us or any third party.

Health Connect (Android) — optional

If you enable Health Connect integration in Settings:

The app may write each completed stretching session to Health Connect as an exercise record so it appears in your overall health timeline.

This is off by default and revocable at any time from Android Settings → Health Connect.

The app requests write access only. It does not read any data from Health Connect — not steps, not heart rate, not any other data type. The single permission it declares is android.permission.health.WRITE_EXERCISE.

Stretch demonstrations

Stretch demonstrations are rendered on your device as animated figures drawn by the app itself. No video is streamed, no media is fetched from any server, and no third party (including YouTube or Google) receives any request when you view a stretch or run a session.

No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking

We do not have user accounts and never ask you to create one.
The app does not include any analytics SDK (Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.).
The app does not show ads.
The app does not contain any third-party tracking SDKs.
The app does not generate an advertising ID.

If this changes in a future release (e.g. opt-in crash reporting), this policy will be updated and the change will be disclosed in the in-app release notes before any collection begins.

The app has an optional “Share routine” feature. When you tap it:

A short link or QR code is generated on your device containing the routine’s stretch list.
You choose where to send it (text, email, etc.) via the standard Android share sheet.
Nothing about that routine is sent to us or stored on any server.

Recipients who open the link import the routine locally on their own device.

Notifications

If you enable daily reminders or the streak-safety-net nudge:

A local notification is scheduled by Android’s AlarmManager.
No reminder content is sent through any cloud notification service. The system fires the alarm locally.

You can disable both at any time in Settings → Reminders or in your Android system notification settings.

Children

This app is intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Your rights

Because we don’t store anything off-device, “data deletion” works simply:

Delete everything: uninstall the app from your phone. All of your data is removed with it.
Delete a specific session: open the app, find the session in Calendar or Pain log, swipe / delete. (For features that don’t yet have an in-app delete, uninstalling is the available option.)
Stop Health Connect sharing: turn off the toggle in Settings → Health Connect, or revoke at the Android system level.

If you live in a jurisdiction that grants you GDPR, CCPA, or similar rights, you can exercise them simply by uninstalling — we have no server-side data to access, port, or delete on your behalf.

Changes to this policy

If the data practices ever change in a meaningful way (e.g. adding optional cloud sync), this document will be updated and the effective date at the top will be revised. Material changes will be highlighted in the in-app release notes.
